To confirm and document a transaction, transactions must be packed into a block that fits the encryption method and its specific rules, which will be verified by the network. These rules prevent previous blocks from being modified because doing so would invalidate all subsequent blocks. No group or individuals can control what is included in the blockchain or replace parts of the blockchain. In return, miners receive bitcoins as a reward for completing those blocks of verified transactions added to the blockchain.
