Apple Inc. reaffirmed on Wednesday that it has not sold or misused data collected through its voice assistant Siri, nor has it utilized this data to create marketing profiles. This statement comes just days after the company agreed to a $95 million settlement to resolve a class-action lawsuit alleging privacy violations.

The lawsuit claimed that Apple had recorded users' private conversations after Siri was unintentionally activated and disclosed these conversations to third parties, including advertisers. Despite the settlement, Apple strongly denied the allegations and clarified that it had not admitted to any wrongdoing. As part of the settlement, eligible users may receive up to $20 per Siri-enabled device, such as iPhones and Apple Watches.

In an official statement, Apple emphasized that it has never used Siri data for advertising purposes, never sold it to third parties, and does not use it to create marketing profiles. The company also highlighted that certain Siri features require minimal data input from Apple’s servers to ensure accurate responses, but this data is limited to what is necessary.

Apple (NASDAQ: AAPL) further clarified that it does not retain audio recordings of Siri interactions unless users explicitly opt in to help improve the service. Even in those cases, the recordings are used solely for that purpose. The company reiterated its commitment to enhancing user privacy and advancing technologies to improve its services.
