Nippon Steel has filed a lawsuit against President Joe Biden's decision to impose a ban on the company's proposed acquisition of U.S. Steel, as well as another lawsuit against Cleveland-Cliffs and its CEO, as well as the president of United Steelworkers.

This lawsuit is the first to challenge the illegal political influence exerted by the Biden administration, with Nippon Steel seeking to annul the review conducted by the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States, in addition to the ban issued by the U.S. president. In its statement, Nippon Steel confirmed its belief that it has a strong legal case that allows it to legitimately complete the acquisition of U.S. Steel.

The company also indicated that the lawsuit aims to prove that President Biden has disregarded the rule of law in his efforts to gain the support of United Steelworkers and bolster his political agenda. Although these allegations represent a significant challenge, they address a controversial issue relating to the future of American capitalism, as Nippon Steel views the refusal to sell U.S. Steel to them as potentially marking the end of an era in the American economic system.
