U.S. stocks drop to their lowest level in 5 sessions following the opening of the week.

The US stock market began its first trades of the week on Monday, suffering strong losses at the opening, led by the Dow Jones Industrial Average, as US stocks fell to their lowest level in 5 sessions at the start of today's trading.

Following the market opening, the performance of US stock indices was as follows:

  • The S&P 500 index settled near the level of 5,882.85 points, with a decline of about 1.47%.
  • The Nasdaq Composite index fell by about 1.44%, losing approximately 284.07 points, to record a level of 19,437.96 points.
  • The Dow Jones Industrial Average recorded a drop to 42,385.49 points, losing about 606.92 points after the market opened.
