Negative start for Wall Street indices following the market opening.
U.S. stocks recorded a noticeable decline following the opening of Tuesday's session, as global markets awaited the Federal Open Market Committee's decision tomorrow, Wednesday. The performance of the benchmark indices after the opening was as follows:
- The S&P 500 index fell sharply by about 0.44% to reach 6,047.51 points.
- The Nasdaq Composite index dropped by approximately 0.63%, losing about 127 points at the opening to record a level of 20,046.57 points.
- The Dow Jones Industrial Average decreased by around 204 points, a drop of 0.47%, trading near 43,513.39 points.
It is worth mentioning in this regard that U.S. stocks closed yesterday's session (Monday) with a clear divergence among the benchmark indices, as the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell by 0.25%, closing at 43,717.48 points.
Additionally, the S&P 500 remained stable at the level of 6,074.08 points, rising by 0.38%. The Nasdaq Composite index also jumped by 316.41 points, an increase of 1.45%, recording 22,096.66 points.
