Alibaba Holdings Limited announced on Thursday the establishment of a subsidiary to consolidate its e-commerce businesses under the Alibaba e-commerce group.

According to a press release from Alibaba, the new subsidiary will include: Taobao, Tmall, AliExpress, Alibaba.com, Lazada, Trendyol, 1688, and Idle Fish, and it will be led by the current CEO of international digital commerce at Alibaba, Jiang Fan.

Alibaba stated that the subsidiary will allow merchants on its platforms to expand their businesses globally, as well as improve the logistics and operational capabilities of the group’s subsidiaries.

Alibaba Group CEO Eddie Wu added that he will also oversee the integration of artificial intelligence into the subsidiary's e-commerce operations, noting that this will involve guiding how to leverage AI to unlock the value the company offers among its individual business groups and how they can work better in possible synergy.
