IBM announces its partnership with AMD to enhance the uses of artificial intelligence.
American technology company IBM has collaborated with semiconductor chip company AMD to enhance the performance and energy efficiency of generative AI models for enterprise customers, according to a statement issued by IBM on Monday.
Starting in the first half of 2025, AMD Instinct MI300X will be offered as a service on IBM Cloud, and the partnership with AMD will provide support for MI300X AMD Instinct accelerators within watsonx AI and IBM's data center.
For his part, AMD CEO Dr. Lisa Su stated that as companies continue to integrate AI models and databases into their operations and businesses, it is crucial for the accelerators within the system to handle computationally intensive workloads with high performance and scalability.
