U.S. stocks recorded a strong decline following the opening of the session on Monday, at the beginning of a new week full of important developments, particularly the U.S. presidential elections and the Federal Reserve meeting.

The performance of U.S. stock indices following the opening was as follows:

  • The S&P 500 index declined by approximately 0.28% to reach 5,712.59 points.
  • The Nasdaq Composite index dropped sharply by about 0.62% to record a level of 18,127.60 points.
  • The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell by about 159.93 points to 41,892.26 points.

It is worth noting that U.S. stocks closed last week's sessions with strong gains for all benchmark indices, as the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose by 288.73 points to close at 42,052.19 points.

Additionally, the S&P 500 index recorded a level of 5,728.80 points, with a rise of 0.41%, and the Nasdaq Composite index increased by 0.72%, reaching 20,033.14 points.
