U.S. stock index futures fall sharply ahead of market open.
U.S. stock index futures recorded a sharp decline during pre-opening trading on Thursday, as market participants await the release of U.S. unemployment claims data and the country's personal spending index. The futures for the key indices showed the following levels before the opening:
- Dow Jones Industrial Average futures recorded a level of approximately 42,156.00 points, losing about 207.00 points, down by 0.49%.
- Nasdaq 100 futures lost about 222.50 points, declining by 1.08% to the level of 20,312.25 points.
- S&P 500 futures fell sharply by approximately 0.79% to reach 5,805.75 points.
It is worth noting that U.S. stocks closed significantly lower in yesterday's session on Wednesday, with all key indices declining. The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell by 0.22%, closing at 42,141.54 points.
Moreover, the S&P 500 recorded a level of 5,813.67 points, with a decline of 0.33%, and the Nasdaq Composite lost 162.95 points, recording 20,387.70 points.
