U.S. stocks decline after the opening amid a slowdown in American growth.

U.S. stocks fell after the opening of Wednesday's session, impacted by negative preliminary data on U.S. economic growth, which showed a slowdown in real GDP growth to 2.8% in the third quarter, down from a growth rate of 3% achieved by the U.S. in the second quarter.

The performance of the U.S. stock indices after the opening was as follows:

  • The S&P 500 index recorded a decline of about 0.15%, reaching 5,824.44 points.
  • The Nasdaq Composite index declined marginally by about 0.07%, recording a level of 18,699.00 points.
  • The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell by about 18.25 points, settling near 42,214.80 points.

It is worth noting that U.S. stocks closed yesterday's session (Tuesday) with a clear divergence among all benchmark indices, where the Dow Jones Industrial Average lost about 154.52 points, closing at 42,233.05 points.

The  S&P 500  index remained steady at 5,832.92 points, with an increase of 0.16%, while the Nasdaq Composite index jumped by 0.98%, or by 199.58 points, to record 20,550.65 points.
