Futures contracts for U.S. stock indices stabilized during pre-market trading on Wednesday, as markets awaited the release of U.S. retail sales data and unemployment claims tomorrow, Thursday.

Before the market opens, futures contracts for the following benchmark indices recorded the following levels:

  • Dow Jones Industrial Average futures fell slightly by 0.07%, reaching approximately 42,986.00 points.
  • Nasdaq 100 futures stabilized near the level of 20,358.25 points, with a slight increase of 0.08%.
  • S&P 500 futures stabilized near the closing level of the previous session at 5,862.00 points.

It is noteworthy that U.S. stocks closed sharply lower in yesterday's session, with all benchmark indices recording losses, as the Dow Jones Industrial Average lost 324.80 points by the end of the session to reach 42,740.42 points.

By the end of yesterday's session, the S&P 500 index fell by 0.76% to 5,815.26 points, while the Nasdaq Composite index recorded losses of 1.37%, or about 279.21 points, reaching 20,159.83 points, due to a sharp decline in shares of chip designer Nvidia and shares of ASML, the world’s sole manufacturer of chip-making machines.
