Mixed performance of U.S. stock indices at the opening as the earnings season begins.
U.S. stock indices showed mixed performance at the opening of Friday's session, coinciding with the start of earnings season, as investment bank JPMorgan delivered quarterly results stronger than expected, along with the world's largest asset manager, BlackRock.
The U.S. benchmark stock indices recorded the following levels at the market opening:
- The S&P 500 index registered a level of 5,787.41 points, with an increase of 0.13%.
- The Nasdaq Composite index declined by 0.29%, registering at 18,228.94 points.
- The Dow Jones Industrial Average stabilized near the level of 42,622.64 points, with an increase of approximately 168.52 points or 0.40%.
It is worth noting that U.S. stocks closed the session yesterday, Thursday, with losses across all benchmark indices, as the Dow Jones Industrial Average lost 57.88 points by the close of the session to 42,454.12 points.
By the end of yesterday’s session, the S&P 500 index fell by 0.21% to 5,780.05 points, while the Nasdaq Composite index recorded losses of 0.13%, reaching 20,241.76 points.
