Data released by ADP in the United States on Wednesday revealed slightly weaker employment in the non-farm private sector during the month of December, with the sector adding fewer jobs than expected.

According to the data, the U.S. non-farm private sector added 122,000 new jobs in December, which was lower than market expectations of 140,000 jobs. Meanwhile, the revised figure for November showed an addition of about 146,000 jobs, down from the previously reported 146,000 jobs.

ADP's employment data is considered a key indicator that measures economic activity in the United States, covering all major economic sectors. Many other economic indicators rely on this data to assess the strength of the labor market and its response to changes in monetary policy from the U.S. Federal Reserve.
