During the announcement of his position, Trump praised Hegseth's character, highlighting his resilience and dedication to embracing the "America First" agenda, adding that his leadership of the Pentagon will send clear messages and warnings to America's adversaries.

Trump also commended Hegseth's military experience and loyalty, emphasizing his strong connection to the U.S. military forces, describing him as a "true believer" in the necessity of strengthening the nation's defenses.

It is noteworthy that Hegseth works as one of the hosts of the weekly Fox News program Fox & Friends Weekend, and he has served in Iraq, Afghanistan, and Guantanamo Bay, earning two Bronze Stars and a Combat Infantry Badge.
