Trump declares victory in the presidential election after leading in the critical state of Pennsylvania.
Republican candidate Donald Trump announced on Wednesday his victory in the 2024 presidential race, affirming that this represents what he described as "the greatest political movement of all time," and stating that he "made history" with his win today. Trump expressed his gratitude to his supporters, thanking them for helping him secure a second term as President of the United States.
During his speech in front of a crowd of supporters gathered in Florida, Trump emphasized that he would rely on their efforts to help the country recover, adding that the outcome of this year's election represents a political victory the United States has never seen before. This came after he was announced to be leading in the crucial states of Pennsylvania, North Carolina, and Wisconsin.
Trump also stated that this will be the beginning of a golden age for the United States, and expressed optimism about his ability to reach 315 electoral votes once all the votes are counted, despite preliminary data so far showing he has around 286 electoral votes, compared to 226 votes for his Democratic opponent Harris.
In addition, Trump indicated that the Republican Party is expected to win a majority in the House of Representatives, having already secured the Senate earlier, while the states of Michigan and Arizona have yet to announce their vote counts.
