Data released on Monday by the Central Election Commission of Moldova, a country in Eastern Europe that was once part of the Soviet Union, showed that a bill to meet Moldova's conditions for EU membership was approved by a slim margin.

According to the voting results, the referendum was passed narrowly, with 50.2% of voters in favor, amid accusations of vote buying and foreign interference to disrupt the electoral process. Moldova's President, Maia Sandu, stated that there was clear evidence of unprecedented vote buying.

It is worth noting that a presidential election re-run is scheduled for November 3, after the initial presidential elections resulted in Maia Sandu from the National Liberal Party of Action and Justice winning 41.86% of the votes, while former Attorney General Alexander Stoianoglo, the candidate from the pro-Russian Socialist Party, received about 26.32% of the votes.

The presidential elections are set to be repeated despite Sandu's significant lead, due to her receiving less than 50% of the total votes cast.
