MicroStrategy increases its Bitcoin holdings by $2.1 billion.
MicroStrategy, a company that describes itself as a developer of the Bitcoin network, announced in an official statement submitted to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) on Monday that it has acquired 21,550 Bitcoins today for $2.1 billion, at an average price of about $98,783 per Bitcoin. According to MicroStrategy's statement, the new purchase was financed through the sale of the company’s shares, under a previously announced selling agreement.
MicroStrategy stated that as of today, December 8, its total Bitcoin holdings— including those of its subsidiaries— have reached 423,650 Bitcoins. It noted that the total cost of acquiring all of its Bitcoin holdings so far amounts to approximately $25.6 billion, with an average purchase price of about $60,324 per Bitcoin, including fees and expenses.
