Britain imposes a new package of sanctions against Russia.
British Foreign Secretary David Lammy revealed in press statements on Monday that his country has imposed the largest package of sanctions against what is known as the "Russian Shadow Fleet," targeting 30 ships. This package aims to counter Russia's attempts to evade Western restrictions on Russian oil exports.
Lammy indicated that these measures come as part of the latest round of British sanctions against Moscow and are the largest of their kind against the fleet, which is said to be used indirectly to bypass the ban on Russian oil.
The British minister confirmed that his country does not see any signals from Russian President Vladimir Putin indicating a desire to negotiate to end the ongoing conflict with Ukraine, reflecting the continued escalation of the Ukrainian crisis without signs of a diplomatic solution.
It is worth noting that Western countries have imposed a series of economic sanctions on Russia since the beginning of the war in Ukraine, including freezing the assets of Russian banks, banning the export of advanced technology, and imposing restrictions on oil and gas exports, with the aim of reducing Russian revenue and pressuring Moscow to end the war with Ukraine.
